Wearables Survey

The goal of creating this survey was to determine if there is a barrier that exists that is keeping the general public from using wearables and find out what that barrier is if one is present. A survey is a great way to learn more about what is important to the users. I built this survey with Google forms using conditional logic to be able to ask relevant questions that depend on the responses. I asked questions such as:

  • Have you heard of wearable technology?
  • What is your perception of this product category?
  • Do you currently own any wearable technology?
  • What type of device would you be interested in?
  • What features draw you to this product?
  • Are there any future applications for wearable technology that you are hoping for?
  • Why do you not own any wearable tech?

From this survey I learned that most people have at least heard of wearable technology. People generally have a positive perception of wearables. A large percentage do not already own a device, indicating that this category might still be young. People are most interested in smart watches.

The top features of wearables are; step counter, heart rate monitor, and easy access to apps. Of the people who are not interested in wearables, a few reasons were; aesthetics, lack of product knowledge, doesn’t see usefulness, and “I’m old school”.

Top reasons why people do not already own a device; Price, usefulness, aesthetics, and privacy.

The responses from this survey would be super helpful for a company that wants to get into this product category or already have a product and just want to improve it.

This project was to research the crowd funding space and see if a new competitor could enter the marketplace.

Visual Design Projects

Craigslist Re-branding

This was a fun project because let’s face it, Craigslist could use a redesign. I came up with a new logo and a simple style guide to give this classic website a facelift. The possibilities are endless but I decided to stick to as many of their current design elements that I could.
